The Vital Role of Supplementary Education in Manchester

The Manchester Supplementary School Partnership (MSSP, administrated by Young Manchester and MEaP), in collaboration with Manchester City Council, is thrilled to announce the return of the Manchester Supplementary School Awards, which will take place on Saturday, 13th June 2026.

Supplementary schools are the backbone of community-led education in our city. By providing heritage language support, cultural enrichment, and academic tutoring, these institutions ensure that Manchester’s children and young people have the tools they need to thrive both socially and academically.

This event, held at the prestigious Martin Harris Centre, offers a moment to recognise the tireless efforts of the teachers, volunteers, and students who make these schools a success. Senior leaders from Manchester City Council will be in attendance to personally thank the educators who contribute so much to our city’s future.

The day will also include the official presentation of Foundation and Higher Awards by senior leaders to our recently accredited schools.

Showcasing Hard Work: School Stalls and Student Performances

We believe the best way to celebrate our schools is to showcase the incredible work and dedication within them. We are inviting all member schools to propose a student performance for the ceremony and/or host a display stall to share your school’s journey. Stalls are a fantastic way to display student workbooks, posters, photographic displays, or cultural items that represent your school’s unique identity.
Please note that spaces are limited for both performances and stalls, so we encourage early registration via the form below and allocation will be on a first come first served, plus shortlist basis. The Cosmo Rodewald Concert Hall offers a professional, world-class stage for:

  • Traditional & Contemporary Dance: Celebrating our city’s diverse cultural heritage.
  • Vocal Performances & Choirs: Showcasing the linguistic richness of our community.
  • Spoken Word & Poetry: Empowering the next generation to share their stories.

Logistics & Seating & Tech: Planning for a Successful Day

To ensure an inclusive and comfortable experience for all, we require an accurate headcount. At this stage, we ask that you let us know how many total spaces (for staff, students, and parents) you would ideally like to reserve.

Additionally, please use the form below to indicate if your school would like to host a showcase stall, or if your students would like to provide a performance. If you are interested in performing, please include any associated technical requirements (such as microphones or music playback) so our team can prepare accordingly.

Please note: Final seat, performance and stall allocations will be confirmed after the 10th May deadline, once we have reviewed all requests against the venue’s total capacity.
