Sporting 4 Life (18-24 yo)

Why Sporting 4 life?
We believe that sport and movement can change lives. Sporting 4 Life is our flagship programme for young people in Manchester bringing together physical activity, mental wellbeing, and mentorship in a space where every young person feels they belong.
“Moving together, growing together, and building a future — one session at a time.”
“At MEaP, our mission has always been to uplift young people and give them the tools to thrive. Sporting 4 Life is about so much more than fitness it’s about belonging, confidence, and opening doors that might otherwise stay closed. We’re incredibly grateful to Sport England and The National Lottery for believing in what we’re building here in Manchester.”
— Dr Ornette Clennon, Director, MEaP
About the Sporting 4 life project
Sporting 4 Life is designed for young people aged 18-24, especially those who face barriers to staying active whether that’s cost, confidence, or just never having had the opportunity. We run three sessions a week at a local park with multi-use sports courts and an open running area, completely free to attend.
Each two-hour session is packed with football, fitness, movement and dance led by trained coaches who are passionate about both sport and the people they work with. No experience needed, no pressure. Just show up.
The project is supported by Sport England’s Movement Fund, funded by The National Lottery.
More Than Just Sport
What makes Sporting 4 Life different is what happens alongside the sport. Every participant is connected to our Mentoring and Employability Programme, where experienced mentors offer one-to-one and group support to help young people build confidence, set goals, and think about their futures.
Our mentors come from a range of backgrounds some are former athletes, others have experience in careers, community work, and education. What they all share is a genuine commitment to the young people they support.
