UK Youth Summer Jobs 2026: MEaP & Partners Host a Young Person

The MEaP consortium received an exciting opportunity to offer young people paid work experience this summer 2026 through the UK Youth Summer Jobs Programme 2026. The placements will be hosted by MEaP/GIFT Academy, and the opportunity was extended across our consortium and delivery partners so that young people can experience a range of roles and working environments. The Sportainment is the organisation that sourced the young people.

In total, we have forwarded 26 potential placement roles to UK Youth, covering a broad range of opportunities including administration, marketing and communications, holiday activities, finance, fundraising, data analysis and cybersecurity. This includes one role that remains subject to final confirmation.

UK Youth Summer Job 2026 – Young Person Eligibility Criteria

UK Youth Summer Jobs 2026 at MEaP and Partners - Digital Marketing - pexels-kindelmedia-7688102Young people targeted must be 16-20, have the right to work in the UK, available for 25 hours of employment each week for 5-6 weeks and able to attend the preparation week , not currently employed for over 15 hours per week,  live in one of the programme delivery areas during the duration of the programme, be fluent in spoken English, not currently charged with a serious offence and not studying towards a degree. The additional sensitive criteria have been shared with our partners.

With UK Youth Summer Job 2026, while each role has its own role description, a description of the skills, knowledge or interests required before placement and a paragraph on the skills and knowledge developed throughout the placement, the common thread is that all roles are entry-level, with no formal qualifications required. The young person should be interested in the environment and skills required by their job title, e.g., a Holiday Activities Assistant will be expected to be interested in working with children, young people, or their wider community.

Relevant generic transferable skills are also useful, e.g., a Marketing and Communications assistant should have a creative mindset and basic written communication skills. They should also have a familiarity with social media platforms and an enthusiasm to engage positively with others through those social networks whether they have done so in the past or not. Finally a reliable and responsible attitude is always a plus for working in teams.

Any prior experience of volunteering in the area in which the role sits would be an advantage, but is not essential.
