About Twilight Academy (Online) School

Twilight Academy is our Supplementary School tutoring Maths, English and Sciences GCSE and A’ Levels in preparation for exams. As a UNICEF Rights Respecting School, we prioritise academic excellence in Global Citizenship, nurturing critical thinkers prepared for the modern international world.

Our Story

When we started tuition took place face to face at Manchester Metropolitan University. We called the supplementary school ‘Twilight  Academy’ because we would meet on site from 5pm to 7pm (those hours have changed since then). Tuition moved online because of the pandemic and we have continued online since as this has turned out to be a convenient option for parents, tutors and pupils. We now also meet face-to-face on seasonal occasions.

MEaP Academy Online School and COVID-19

Eliminating the risks of COVID-19 transmission that are present in face-to-face teaching, MEaP Academy Online School allows pupils to follow their own individual learning pathway. Students work through self-study materials at a pace that suits them, studying in small classes with lessons carefully tailored to their needs. Every individual pupil is seen and heard, and no one is left behind. We believe that this approach is also suited those families choosing to homeschool their children.

Delivery format: How we work with our pupils online

We deliver online education in small groups of one-to-one up to one-to-five with TA support. Our distance teaching is synchronous (real-time or live).

We use Google Classroom to manage our resources and communicate with students in between teaching sessions. We use Zoom to deliver our teaching in real-time, supported by the simultaneous use of Google Classroom. We also use Google Classroom to enhance the security features of Zoom by limiting access to session invitations.

Our classes take place on week nights during Manchester City Council’s mainstream school term times

We teach subjects at KS1 to KS4. Each session lasts for 2 hours (with breaks) and pupils work through interactive self-study materials. We also run shorter (1 hour with breaks) online playgroups and KS1 classes.

In terms of enhancing our online provision for homeschooling, we believe that where COVID-safety allows, a blended approach between our online and face to face provision via our network of supplementary schools would ensure the optimum social learning conditions and support for our homeschoolers.

GCSEs

We offer group tuition for GCSE Maths, English, Sciences. To maintain quality we strive to limit groups to no more than 5 – 10 pupils tutored by one teacher at any given time. Within our group GCSE tuition package pupils can expect to receive 4 hours of tuition a week (link to the product)

We also offer one-to-one tutoring in these subjects (link to the product).

A ‘ Levels

We offer one-to-one A’ Level tuition of Maths and Sciences.  Please note we do not offer in A’ Level tuition to groups as A’ Level students tend to need intense focus on individual areas specific to their individual needs. Offering a quality impactful service to the individual student is top priority. (link to the products)
