The three-hour intensive workshop delivered a measurable impact:
- 46% of attendees prioritised parent advocacy workshops.
- 31% focused on behaviour and school communication.
This data reflects where families & educators who were present at the event felt they needed the most support. Post-event, participants described feeling βenergised,β βequipped,β and βinspired,β with unanimous agreement that the event was βextremely valuableβ or βpotentially life-changingβ.
What next? What are the key priorities?
Top takeaways centre on empowerment and communication: βyour voice matters,β βkeep communicating,β and βbe informed and use itβ led responses, alongside practical tools like APDR (Assess, Plan, Do, Review) and EHC plan navigation. These was gathered via Mentimeter interactive feedback. This mirrors broader UK trends where 19.6% of pupils now have identified SEND β the highest proportion on record.
The most requested improvements for future events include multiple workshop attendance and local authority Q&A sessions. Events like this provide critical spaces for parents and educators to build advocacy skills together.
