Our End of Year Round Up of 2022
This year began with lockdown fatigue and uncertainty caused by the burgeoning Russia-Ukraine war, with news of African students facing racism at their borders. It closes with yet more uncertainty due to the food and energy crises and public sector strikes. In the face of these events our resolve to support our communities and the most disadvantaged; alongside our partners has deepened and we have lots to be thankful for this year.
What we are thankful for:
- We expanded our Twilight School which now has two cohorts of pupils strengthening their skills in core subjects GCSE English, Maths and Science.
- We celebrated the success of our pupils who completed their GCSEs in 2022; they achieved marvellous results despite the challenges of the pandemic years.
- We successfully recruited four talented tutors to join our pool of online educators for our pupils and our search still continues- find out more.
- We launched the Tackling Racial Injustice (TRI) report in partnership with Young Manchester, Elevate Young Minds and CAHN.
- The Tackling Racial Injustice Network established to feed into research for the TRI report launched the Youth Explosion series of events.
- We won an award from the Postcode Neighbourhood Trust towards our wellbeing and skills workshops for young people.
- We partnered with Young Manchester and NRCSE-YPF Trust to launch the Manchester Supplementary Schools Partnership.
