Pioneering MEaP: First supplementary school in Greater Manchester to achieve Manchester City Council’s Higher Level Accreditation Award

Building on the work of the Foundation Level Award that was successfully led by our Head Teacher, Amber Abisai, our Teacher Training mentor, Dr Ornette D Clennon led our submission to the Higher Level Award.

Manchester City Council - Manchester Supplementary School Accreditation Award Higher Level - This is to certify that The MEaP Twilight School has met the standard required to achieve the Higher Level Award.. The Supplementary School is a well organised and safe environment for all who attend. All policies and procedures are in place. Curriculum Planning & Resources. Continuing Professional Development & Staff Training - Pupil/Staff/Payment Relationships and Pupil Voice - Designated Safeguarding Kead has attended appropriate training - Pupil Achievement - Excellence of Partnership working incl Universities - Effective links with parents & community served - Engagement with LA, attendance at networks, organised training, achievement day, conference, etc - Our Manchester - Signed - Amanda Corcoran, Director of Education - Jan Bradburn, Lead for Supplementary Schools - Jenny Patterson, Lead for Safeguarding in Schools - Higher Award accreditation

This scheme is also being closely watched by Bradford and Birmingham City Councils who are also interested in adopting this innovative new scheme.

Impact of Our Work

I loved spending every second with the students in the classroom, they made me feel very welcomed and appreciated. The environment of the classroom and being around the students and the staff was very calming and comforting. Working as a team with the other staff, made everything so much easier, as everyone was helpful and we all looked out for one another. It was an experience, that I would not forget. How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.
